On October 1 and 2, 2024, The Energy Coalition1 and the Enniscorthy International Forum2 gathered representatives from the United Nations, administrations in California, the US, and France, and communities across North America and Europe at a high-level, regional summit in Santa Monica, California.
The summit was conducted under the auspices of the UN-affiliated Buildings Action Coalition3 (BAC) and addressed the theme of “Decarbonizing Buildings: A New Vision of Energy for Where We Live and Work.” The gathering generated a robust dialogue around policies and actions to address the climate challenge while securing quality-of-life aspirations.
Looking forward, participants wish to collaborate with The Energy Coalition and the Enniscorthy International Forum to discuss, debate, and embrace pragmatic approaches to resolve the conundra of underperforming buildings and communities. They intend to undertake, collectively, to support grassroots campaigns to advance the principles of high-performance buildings4 and to pursue specific collaborative activities and projects. The Energy Coalition and other members of the BAC will join forces to advance the discussions and debates regarding high performance in buildings and the built environment in western North America.
